At Otter Rafting Adventures, one of the rapids we run on the Red Deer River is called the Staircase. It is a series of drops of different sizes over a short distance. Its lot’s of fun because of the length of time of the continuous action. Also, if at any time you make a mistake in your run down it, you have to quickly pick a new line for the remainder of the ledges. Since every group is different and the water levels are always changing you have several decisions to make at the start of the rapid.
Here is a video from late in the season when the river levels have dropped and you can actually have someone on board with a camera and not paddling. I’ve had to edit it quite a bit so the time the video runs is a fraction of the actual time it takes you to paddle down the Staircase.
