Guide Training with doubled wetsuit booties!

Everyone loves to go out on the river on a nice warm day with the sun shining and everyone having a fantastic time. Once summer arrives this is sure to happen, but lately the guide training sessions have been quite cool to say the least. Although the guides have had plenty of fun getting back together and getting out on the water again the rain, snow and cold has certainly tested the limit on keeping warm in a wetsuit. It’s hard to keep your feet warm as the snow blankets the bottom of the raft. Still, we have had several days on the river brushing up on paddling skills and river reading.

On the River

We were out paddling today on the Red Deer River. It is early in the season and we should be on the river rafting with guests within two weeks. Still, it was a gorgeous day and we just had to get out; so Sam and I found some friends and went kayaking through the town of Sundre. This section of the river is very tame but quite dangerous because of all the sweepers. Makes me look forward to the safer Upper Red Deer River, all the excitement of it’s rapids and white water that is weeks away.

Summer weather is Here

Finally, we have some good weather to get out and do some rafting in. The reservation hotline is starting to ring. Now is the time to reserve one of those few seats in June when the river is at its highest. Catch the wildest water that the Red Deer River can produce - we have some dates still available on our popular June weekends.

Mother’s day is over – Father’s day is coming up sooner than you think. What about a day on the river with Dad. We have gift certificates available so you can show him how special he is. Or maybe you look forward to just seeing his face when he falls into that cold river. Hope all the mom’s had a great day. Too bad it comes once a year. With the right training you could be treated like royalty every day. Mind you, there will always be someone trying to remove you from your throne!!

Mother’s day is just a few days away. There is still time to arrange a personalized gift certificate for mom. Don’t send her flowers, send her rafting. She will remember a rafting trip far longer than how the flowers looked. Of course, you’ll have to join her on the river too.
