River Guides Wanted

10:52 AM, Posted by Unknown, No Comment

With the white water rafting season on the radar we are starting to get many resumés for the great job as a rafting guide.

We are looking for some full time, experienced guides to help us put on an incredible rafting outing for our many guests. Many of our guests know how much a good guide can contribute to the rafting experience.

Our season is short, like our summers, so expect to be out on the river often and having a ton of fun playing on the river with all your paddlers. On a more serious note, please have all required tickets (First aid/CPR, river rescue) and resumés with references to be considered for a position. We are also looking for part-time guides, trainees and support staff. If you want to be involved in an exciting industry that can lead to world wide travel and employment, this can be your dream job.

For those who would like some insight into the attraction of rafting and the type of people who gravitate to this sport, check out “So you want my Job”. I have seen people from all walks of life who have been interested in taking others paddling down the river, showing them a good time and challenging the river on a daily basis. Did you know this is a 100th year anniversary for Mark Twain - he (got) the attraction of the river as well.P7240115

Rafting Prediction Report for End of February

4:09 PM, Posted by Unknown, No Comment

The rafting season is only 3 months away. It’s time to get your group together and plan your day on the river. We have several Saturdays available in May and June as of yet. You have your pick of Sundays too.

We’ve been following the snow pak in the mountains this year and the accumulation of snow is right on track for this time in our winter. If the regular precipitation continues in the mountains we should have an exciting season of paddling coming our way.

Mid winter Report

2:29 PM, Posted by Unknown, One Comment

With the recent snow and cold weather the good news is our snow pack is in the average range according to Alberta Environment. And there is still plenty of time for the snow in the mountains to build before our rafting season begins.

With the unusual warm fall we had the snow in the mountains didn’t start to accumulate until 4 weeks later than usual. But with the weather we’ve been having, the depth of snow is building and making up for lost time. If mother nature just does what she usually does we should have plenty of water for the coming season.

Like every year the guides at Otter Rafting Adventures are looking forward to the coming season. Aren’t you?
